3D Design With Mindess Students

3D Design With Mindess Students

We had a blast working with the Mindess students this past Tuesday! Currently, we are working with the students enrolled in the Ashland Innovation Center's 3D Design course for Mindess students. This course introduces students to the materials and tools that we have here at AIC.

On the first day, mentors and students became acquainted by making personalized buttons. Everyone had such a good time getting to know one another and creating these buttons. Later on, students did a engineering design challenge. Using paper and tape, their mission was to create an original 3D project. We saw so many wonderful ideas, including a cat hat, a Minecraft creeper hat, and "The Leaning Tower of Jane." Our favorite thing about being mentors is seeing students' endless ideas come to life - we definitely saw that come true this week. Next week, students will begin constructing 3D objects using cardboard.

In the weeks to come, we will continue helping the students become familiar with the makerspace, and teaching them how to safely use all the equipment in the space.

We look forward to seeing them again next week!
