Mindess at the AIC - Session II: Makey Makey in the Makerspace
November 7th through December 5th, 2017 on Tuesdays
Register: http://bit.ly/MindessAtAIC
Details: For most modern computer users, computer input is done through a keyboard or a mouse, but in this session, students will explore how to design their own original input devices. Want a handheld game controller, or in ‘instrument’ to control on screen music, or perhaps an outlandish giant mouse? We can do that! Sound challenging? Well, they will find it fun and highly engaging as we introduce them to the Makey-Makey.
This simple to use input controller allows users to design highly functional input devices that work with almost any conductive materials from bananas to bolts, and beyond. Participants will learn some basic properties of electrical conductivity while also bringing their own original ideas to life.

Ashland Middle School at the AIC - Session II: 3D Printing & Design
November 6th through December 4th, 2017 on Mondays
Register: http://bit.ly/AMSatAIC
There are few more exciting and accessible fields today than 3D printing. Over the course of this five week session, participants from the middle school will learn how to design their own creations with an eye toward designing simple machines that can be printed on one of our multiple 3D printers at the AIC. Students will also learn a little about how the 3D printers work.
We will use an online tool that is easy to learn. Students who demonstrate readiness and really want to push the limits will be given opportunities to explore even more depth using more advanced software in our computer lab. Every student can expect to come home with multiple, self-designed 3D prints.
